Devlog #2: Character Design Deep Dive

This week, we’re pulling back the curtain on the heart of our game: the protagonist.
Designing the main character for Dendam has been a process of balancing gameplay needs with narrative depth. We wanted a character that feels agile and powerful in combat, but also carries the weight of their past.
The visual design draws inspiration from modern tactical gear mixed with elements of local Sundanese culture, creating a silhouette that is both unique and grounded. The color palette is intentionally muted, with splashes of red that tie into the game’s core themes and the logo itself.
We’ve gone through dozens of iterations, and we’re finally landing on a design that feels right. Here’s a sneak peek at one of the early concept sketches (real image would be here). We can’t wait to show you the final model in-engine!
